I was born in 26 October (forth of Aban) in Zabul (Sistan). I spent my childhood in south of Khorasan and my adolescence in Mashhad, when I was 9 years old, the revolution of 1979 occurred in Iran.
Most of the books that I was reading as a kid; (like the stories of Samad Behrangi and Mohammad Reza Hakimi ), and also my teenage studies that involved works of Ignazio Silone who is an Italian novelist and works of Dr. Shariati, an Iranian sociologist, led me to “ political idealism” ,but our generation has had the chance to witness a moving era and many times that their beliefs have been challenged. Many of the “good” became “bad” and vice versa! And the names of the streets were changed many times.
Our generation “witnessed” the war and many of my friends and my classmates were killed on the battlefield. The funeral of my friends involved me with the concept of “death” at a young age.
At the end of the eight-year war, I entered Zahedan Medical School in the fall 1989. I have been practicing medicine since 1998. In addition to my medical studies, I was involved in cultural studies including; (History, Religion, Political Science) and also social activities throughout my undergraduate degree. When I was nineteen, I wrote my first book which called; “The Puzzle of Time” which is about Einstein`s time relativity that it is contribution to understanding religious texts which it was published in 1994.
By reading of works of the famous Swiss psychiatrist “Carl Gustav Jung”, I entered the realm of psychiatry. In the fall 1998 I started my psychiatry course at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. In the year 2001, I passed the specialty board of psychiatry and that I was a member of the faculty of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
Entering the realm of psychiatry has deepened the challenges that the “Social-Political transition” had created for me. The field of psychiatry and especially the psychoanalysis, that is my favorite, it challenges the most basic concepts of the human mind. There is less one to enter this domain and “the system of his beliefs” will not change.
Readers who read my works are wondering from my past point of views and changing my literature in such works like ; “Greeting Believer, Greeting” , “A Thousand and One Nights between Dream and Wake” or “The Jug of the Sea” with my next generation of books like that; “The Healthy Personality” , “Live Freely” or “The Words for Todays”. In my past works, I was more concerned individual definition of mental health that focused on “spirituality”. In my new generation of works that I have provided a social definition of mental health that focuses on “rationality”. The social changes of recent years and my own experiences have led me to conclude that our society needs the rational and the civic ethics more than the unquestionable spiritual vision and Sufi’s perspective. The Sufi understanding of religion that is rooted in the history of the Iranian nation, it is more harmful to us than to be useful in the present circumstances.
I myself more interested in mystical views, but the data analysis has forced me to change the content of my works and to abandon my deep nostalgia that; “sometimes the right way is the hard way!”
