I had a friend who was known to everyone for his extreme wit, So every one thought that wherever this person was found, it was something happening there for sure and They must be careful not to be swindled by him.
This person himself was trying to exaggerate his sharpness! When I was with him for a long time, he once shared a memory with me that made me realize the root of this disgusting behaviour:
When my friend went to kindergarten, he took a chocolate with him to school every day. He shared it with his friend every day. One day my friend says to his mother:
“Mom buy me two chocolates please, because I will give one of tnem to Saeed,” and then tells his mother, “who cuts in half the chocolate he takes to kindergarten with Saeed every day.”
My friend’s mother’s response to this generous little one was: “O Naive stupid!” Mother’s tone and her look at my little friend made her realize that she had made a big mistake! He decided not to be a stupid anymore and to eat his chocolate alone Silently and quietly until his friend arrives!
My friend did not enjoy his chocolate twice as much after that, he just enjoyed that he is not stupid! And little by little he tried to prove to others that not only is it not idiot, but also very sharp and clever!
We teach our children to eat alone and eat more and not to share their possessions and not to be stupid and naive, then we live in groups in a society where many people look at each other with suspicion and suffer from distrust, isolation and loneliness. Not to be swindled by someone, but they swindle others and in this game of “I am not naive” they overtake each other!
The irony is that we remain silent and surrender in front of the big swindlers and in front of our clever neighbour! In the words of Dr. Shariati (in the book Ummah and Imamate):
“If someone touches the bowl of our broth, we break his hand, but we remain silent in front of the person who takes our country’s oil well!”
A certain one said at the time of abstersion, “(O God), unite me with the scent of Paradise!”
(Thereupon) a person said, “You have used a good formula, but you have missed the (proper) hole for the prayer.
Since this prayer was the formula applicable to the nose, why have you applied the nose-formula to the arse?
One free (from sensuality) gets the odour of Paradise from his nose: how should the odour of Paradise come from the rump?”
O thou who hast brought humility into the presence of fools, and O thou who hast brought pride into the presence of (spiritual) kings,
The pride shown to the base is goodly and fitting. Take heed, do not behave in the reverse manner: the reverse thereof is (the cause of) thy bondage.
